1 – Muhammad b. Ya`qub from Muhammad b. Yahya from Ahmad b. Muhammad from Ibn Mahbub from Dawud b. Kathir from Abu `Ubayda from Abu Ja`far
He said: The Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وآله said: Allah تعالى said: From my believing servants is he who strives in My worship, so he gets up from his sleep and the pleasantness of his pillow, and strives for Me in his nights. So he wearies himself in My worship, and I strike him with drowsiness for the night and two nights, a look (?) from Me for him, and a preservation upon him (?). So he sleeps until he enters morning, and gets up while he abhors himself rebuking (himself) for it. Had I left between him and what he wanted of My worship, pride from that would have entered him. So pride would have turned him unto fitna with his acts, and from that there would come to him what wherein is his destruction by his pride with his acts, and his self-satisfaction, until he would suppose that he has exceeded the worshipers, and passed the bound of falling short in his worship. So he would be separate from Me at that, while he supposes that he is close to Me (- al-hadith)
