It was narrated to me by Moḥammed bin Mūsa bin al-Mutawakkil رحمه الله, who said – it was narrated to me by ʿAlī bin al-Ḥussain al-Saʿd al-Ābādi, from Aḥmed bin Abī ʿAbd Allāh al-Barqi, who said – it was narrated to us by my father, from Moḥammed bin Abī ʿUmayr, from Mālik bin ‘Anas, from Abī ʿAbd Allāh, from his forfathers عليهم السلام, from the Prophet صلى الله عليه وآله who said:1

The poor came to The Messenger of Allāh صلى الله عليه وآله and said: “Oh Messenger of Allāh, indeed for the rich there is the means for them that they can emancipate – but this is not [available] for us; and for them is the means for them that they can perform Ḥajj (migrates/pilgrimage), but this is not [available] for us; and for them is the means for them to give charity, but this is not [available] for us; and for them is the means to perform Jihād with, but this is not [available] for us.”
The Prophet صلى الله عليه وآله said:
Whoever exclaims Allāh is Greater (Kabbar Allāh, i.e. says Allāhu Akbar) one hundred times, is superior to the one who has emancipated one hundred slaves.
And whoever Glorifies Allāh (Sabbaḥ Allāh, i.e. says Subḥan Allāh) one hundred times, is superior to the one who rides one hundred sacrificial camels.
And whoever Praises Allāh (Ḥamid Allāh, i.e. says al-Ḥamdulillah) one hundred times, is superior to the one who burdens one hundred horses in the way of Allāh who are saddled, harnessed and readied with a rider.
And whoever says ‘There is no god but Allāh’ (Lā Ilāha Ila Allāh) one hundred times, is the most superior in people in deeds on that day, except for the one who increases.
He (the narrator, i.e. the Imām) said: This was made known to the rich, and they acted upon it. The poor came to the Prophet صلى الله عليه وآله and said: “Oh Messenger of Allāh, the rich people were informed of what you said, and they acted upon it.”
He replied: That is a bounty from Allāh, He grants to whoever He wills, and Allāh is the possessor of great bounty.

In al-Kāfi, Volume 2, a similar ḥadīth is found with the following chain: ʿAlī bin Ibrāhīm, from his father, from ibn Abī ʿUmayr, from Hishām bin Sālim and Abī Ayyūb al-Khazzāz, all from Abī ʿAbd Allāh [al-Ṣādiq] عليه السلام. al-Majlisi رحمه الله says this particular chain is Good, like Authentic (Ḥassan kal-Ṣaḥīḥ).
