Tahdhīb al-Aḥkām, The Incidents that Obligate Purification – Ḥadīth #01

It was reported to us by al-Shaykh أيده الله تعالى, from Aḥmed bin Moḥammed, from his father, from al-Ḥussain bin Ḥassan bin ‘Ābān, from al-Ḥussain bin Saʿīd, from ʿUthmān bin ʿĪsa, from Samāʿa,1 who said:

Abā ʿAbdillāh [al-Ṣādiq] عليه السلام was asked about a man who sleeps while he is in prostration.
He said: “He abandons [his current prayer] and performs ablution.”

And by the same chain (as the previous narration) from al-Ḥussain bin Saʿīdm from Ḥamād, from ʿUmar bin ‘Adhīna, and Ḥurayz, from Zurārah1:

From one of them [al-Bāqir or al-Ṣādiq] عليهما السلام, who said: “The ablution does not break, except through what comes out from your two points (i.e. the genitalia and anus), or sleep.
