Thawāb al-Aʿmāl, Reward for the one who purifies himself, then retires himself to his bed – Ḥadīth #1

My father رحمه الله said, it was narrated to us by Moḥammed bin Yaḥya, from Moḥammed bin Aḥmed, from al-Sindi ibn Kardūs:

From Abī ʿAbd Allāh عليه السلام, who said: Whoever purifies himself, then retires himself to his bed; he spends the night as if his bed is his mosque.

أبي (ره) قال حدثني محمد بن يحيى عن محمد بن أحمد عن السندي ابن ربعة عن محمد بن كردوس عن أبي عبد الله عليه السلام قال من تطهر ثم آوى إلى فراشه بات وفراشه كمسجده

Thawāb al-Aʿmāl, Reward for swallowing his saliva out of respect for the rights of the mosque – Ḥadīth #2

My father رحمه الله, from ʿAbd Allāh bin Jaʿfar, from Aḥmed bin Ḥassān, from his father ʿAbd Allāh bin Sinān:

From Abī ʿAbd Allāh عليه السلام, who said: Whoever expectorates in the mosque, then returns it into his stomach [rather than spitting it out], there would not come an ailment, except that it will free him of it.

أبي (ره) عن عبد الله بن جعفر عن أحمد بن محمد بن حسان عن أبيه عبد الله بن سنان عن أبي عبد الله عليه السلام قال من تنخع في مسجد ثم ردها في جوفه لم تمر بداء إلا أبرأته

My father رحمه الله said, it was narrated to us by ʿAbd Allāh bin Jaʿfar al-Ḥumairi, from al-Sindi, from Moḥammed bin Sinān, from Ṭalḥa bin Zaid, from Jaʿfar bin Moḥammed, from his father عليهما السلام, who said:

The Messenger of Allāh صلى الله عليه وآله said: Whoever swallows his saliva out of respect for the rights of the mosque, Allāh makes his saliva a source of good health for his body, and a cure from affliction in his flesh.

أبي (ره) قال حدثنا عبد الله بن جعفر الحميري عن السندي عن محمد بن سنان عن طلحة بن زيد عن جعفر بن محمد عن أبيه عليهما السلام قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله من رد ريقه تعظيما لحق المسجد جعل الله ريقه صحة في بدنه وعوفي من بلوى في جسده

Thawāb al-Aʿmāl, Reward of the Brushing the Teeth (al-Siwāk) – Ḥadīth #3

My father رحمه الله, from ʿAbd Allāh bin Jaʿfar, from Moḥammed bin al-Ḥussain bin Abī al-Khaṭṭāb, from Ṣaffwān bin Yaḥya, from Ibrāhīm bin Abī al-Balād, from his father Yaḥya bin Abī al-Balād:1

From Abī Jaʿfar عليه السلام, who said: Brushing the teeth (al-Siwāk) removes the phlegm, and increases the intellect.

1. The ḥadīth has a reliable chain.

أبي ( ره ) عن عبد الله بن جعفر عن محمد بن الحسين بن أبي الخطاب عن صفوان بن يحيى عن إبراهيم بن أبي البلاد عن أبيه يحيى بن أبي البلاد عن أبي جعفر عليه السلام قال : السواك يذهب بالبلغم ويزيد في العقل

It was narrated to me by Moḥammed bin al-Ḥassan, who said – it was narrated to me by Moḥammed bin al-Ḥassan al-Ṣaffār, from Aḥmed ibn al-Ḥassan bin ʿAlī bin Fadhāl, from ʿAmru bin Saʿīd al-Madā’ini, from Musaddaq ibn Sadaqah, from ʿAmmār al-Sābāṭi, from Abī ʿAbd Allāh عليه السلام – who said:

Abū Jaʿfar عليه السلام said: If the people knew what is within (in benefit) of brushing the teeth (al-Siwāk), they would have kept it with them under [even] under the quilt (i.e. while asleep).

حدثني محمد بن الحسن قال حدثني محمد بن الحسن الصفار عن أحمد ابن الحسن بن علي بن فضال عن عمرو بن سعيد المدايني عن مصدق ابن صدقة عن عمار الساباطي عن أبي عبد الله عليه السلام قال: قال أبو جعفر عليه السلام لو يعلم الناس ما في السواك لأباتوه معهم في اللحاف

My father رحمه الله said – it was narrated to us by Aḥmed bin Idrīs, who said – it was narrated to me by Moḥammed bin Aḥmed, who said – it was narrated to me by Ibrāhīm bin ‘Isḥāq, from Moḥammed binʿĪsa, from ʿAbd Allāh al-Dahqān, from Durust bin Manṣūr, from ʿAbd Allāh bin Sinān:

From Abī ʿAbd Allāh عليه السلام, who said: With the brushing the teeth (al-Siwāk) comes twelve qualities,
1. It is from the Sunnah:
2. It is a purification of the mouth.
3. Sharpens the eyesight.
4. Earns the pleasure of The Entirely Merciful.
5. It whitens the teeth.
6. Removes cavities.
7. Strengthens gums.
8. Increases appetite of food.
9. Removes phlegm.
10. Increases in memorisation.
11. Amplifies the good deeds.
12. Angels are made happy by it.

أبي ( ره ) قال حدثنا أحمد بن إدريس قال حدثني محمد بن أحمد قال حدثني إبراهيم بن إسحاق عن محمد بن عيسى عن عبيد الله الدهقان عن درست بن منصور عن عبد الله بن سنان عن أبي عبد الله عليه السلام قال : في السواك اثنتي عشرة خصلة هو من السنة ومطهرة للفم ومجلاة للبصر ويرضى الرحمن ويبيض الأسنان ويذهب بالحفر ويشد اللثة ويشهي الطعام ويذهب بالبلغم ويزيد في الحفظ ويضاعف الحسنات وتفرح به الملائكة

Thawāb al-Aʿmāl, Reward for Renewing Ablution – Ḥadīth #2

It was narrated to me by Moḥammed bin Mūsa, who said – it was narrated to me by ʿAlī bin al-Ḥussain al-Saʿd Ābādi, from Aḥmed bin Abī ʿAbd Allāh al-Barqi, from his father, from Moḥammed bin Sinān, from al-Mufadhal bin ʿUmar:

From Abī ʿAbd Allāh عليه السلام, who said: Whoever renews their ablution for [a reason] other than for prayer, Allāh renews his repentance without [him needing to] seeking forgiveness.

حدثني محمد بن موسى قال حدثني علي بن الحسين السعد آبادي عن أحمد بن أبي عبد الله البرقي عن أبيه عن محمد بن سنان عن المفضل بن عمر عن أبي عبد الله عليه السلام قال : من جدد وضوءه لغير صلاة جدد الله توبته من غير استغفار

Thawāb al-Aʿmāl, Reward for Renewing Ablution – Ḥadīth #1

It was narrated to be by Moḥammed bin ʿAlī bin Mājilawayh, from Moḥammed bin Yaḥya al-ʿAṭṭār, from Moḥammed bin Aḥmed bin al-Saqr, from Abī Qatāda:

From al-Ridha عليه السلام, who said: Renewal of ablution for the  ʿIshā’ prayers wipes away [the consequences of meaninglessly saying] ‘No, by Allah’; and ‘Yes, by Allah.’

حدثني محمد بن علي بن ماجيلويه عن محمد بن يحيى العطار عن محمد بن أحمد بن الصقر عن أبي قتادة عن الرضا عليه السلام قال : تجديد الوضوء لصلاة العشاء يمحو لا والله وبلى والله

Thawāb al-Aʿmāl, Reward for Opening the Eyes during Ablution – Ḥadīth #1

It was narrated to me by Moḥammed bin al-Ḥassan, who said – it was narrated to me by Moḥammed bin al-Ḥassan al-Ṣaffār, from al-ʿAbbās ibn Maʿrūf, from Abī Ḥammād, from Moḥammed bin Saʿīd, from Ghazwān, from al-Sakūni, from ibn Jarīḥ, from ʿAṭā’, from ibn ʿAbbās:

The Messenger of Allāh صلى الله عليه وآله said: Open your eyes during ablution, so that perhaps it will not see the fire of Hell.

حدثني محمد بن الحسن قال حدثني محمد الحسن الصفار عن العباس ابن معروف عن أبي حماد عن محمد بن سعيد عن غزوان عن السكوني عن ابن جريح عن عطا عن ابن عباس قال : قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله إفتحوا عيونكم عند الوضوء لعلها لا ترى نار جهنم

Thawāb al-Aʿmāl, Reward for Ablution for Maghrib and Morning Prayers – Ḥadīth #1

It was narrated to me by Moḥammed bin al-Ḥassan, who said – it was narrated to me by Moḥammed bin al-Ḥassan al-Ṣaffār, from Ibrāhīm bin Hāshim, from ʿAmru bin ʿUthmān, from Jarrāḥ al-Ḥathā’, from Samāʿa bin Mahrʿān, who said:

Abū al-Ḥassan Mūsa عليه السلام said: Whoever performs ablution for Maghrib, that ablution becomes an atonement for what has passed of his sins during the day, except for the great sins (al-Kabā’ir).
Furthermore, whoever performs ablution for Morning prayers, that ablution becomes an atonement for him for what has passed of his sins during the night, except for for the great sins (al-Kabā’ir).

حدثني محمد بن الحسن قال حدثني محمد بن الحسن الصفار عن إبراهيم ابن هاشم عن عمرة بن عثمان عن جراح الحذاء عن سماعة بن مهران قال : قال أبو الحسن موسى عليه السلام من توضأ للمغرب كان وضوءه ذلك كفارة لما مضى من ذنوبه في نهاره ما خلا الكباير ، ومن توضأ لصلاة الصبح كان وضوءه ذلك كفارة لما مضى من ذنوبه في ليلته ما خلا الكباير
