Al-‘Āmāli, Al-Shaykh al-Ṣadūq, The Twelfth Assembly – Ḥadīth #3

And also on this day, it was narrated to us by al-Shaykh, al-Faqih al-Ṣadūq (Abū Jaʿfar Moḥammed bin ʿAlī bin al-Ḥussain bin Mūsa bin Bābawayh al-Qummi رحمة الله), who said – it was narrated to us by my father رحمة الله, who said – it was narrated to us by ʿAlī bin Ibrāhīm bin Hāshim, who said – it was narrated to us by Jaʿfar bin Salamah, who said – it was narrated to us by Ibrāhīm bin Moḥammed al-Thaqafi, who said – it was narrated to us by ʿUbayd Allāh bin Mūsa al-ʿAbbasi, who said – it was narrated to us by Muhalhil al-ʿAbdi, who said – it was narrated to us by Kadīra bin Ṣāliḥ al-Hijri, from Abī Dhar Jundub bin Janāda رضي الله عنه, who said:

I heard the Messenger of Allāh صلى الله عليه وآله say to ʿAlī عليه السلام three statements. Had just one of them been for me it would be more beloved to me than this world and what is in it. I heard him say: ‘Oh Allāh, help him and help through him. Oh Allāh, give victory to him and gain victory through him. For he is Your servant and brother of Your Messenger.’
Then Abū Dhar رحمه الله said: I testify to ʿAlī in allegiance, and his brotherhood, and his successorship.
Kadīra bin Ṣāliḥ said: Salmān al-Fārsi would similarly testify to this, as would al-Miqdād and ʿAmmār, and Jābir bin ʿAbd Allāh al-Anṣāri, and Abū al-Haytham bin al-Tayhān, and Khuzaymah bin Thābit dhu al-Shahādatayn,1 and Abū Ayūb – the companion within the dwelling of the Messenger of Allāh صلى الله عليه وآله – and Hāshim bin ʿUtba al-Marqāl. All of them are from the elite companions of the Messenger of Allāh صلى الله عليه وآله.

وصلى الله على سيدنا محمد وآله الطاهرين

1. Khuzaymah bin Thābit was known as dhu al-Shahādatayn (the one of the two testimonies) due to an incident found in an authentic narration in al-Kāfi  (Volume 7, in the Chapter of testimonies) where the Prophet صلى الله عليه وآله declared the testimony (shahāda) of Khuzaymah to be worthy of two men. Al-Barqi, in his book of Rijāl, elaborates how he was of those who rejected the authority of the first recognized caliph, Abū Bakr, in a narration where Khuzaymah says to him: ‘Oh Abū Bakr, do you not have knowledge of how the Messenger of Allāh صلى الله عليه وآله accepted my testimony alone (as opposed to requiring two people)?’ [Abu Bakr] replied: ‘Yes’. He said: Then indeed I bear witness in what I heard from him, where he said: “Your Imām after me is ʿAlī عليه السلام because he is the most sincere to my nation and the most knowledgeable from them.”‘

Al-‘Āmāli, Al-Shaykh al-Ṣadūq, The Twelfth Assembly – Ḥadīth #2

It was narrated to us by Moḥammed bin Ibrāhīm al-Muʿādhi, who said – it was narrated to us by Aḥmed bin Ḥawayah al-Jurjāni al-Mudhakkar, who said – it was narrated to us by Abū ‘Isḥāq Ibrāhīm bin Bilāl, who said – it was narrated to us by Abū Moḥammed, who said – it was narrated to us by Abū ʿAbd Allāh Moḥammed bin Kirām, who said – it was narrated to us by Aḥmed bin ʿAbd Allāh, who said – it was narrated to us by Sufyān bin ʿAyaynah, who said – it was narrated to us Muʿawiyah bin ‘Isḥāq, who said – it was narrated to us by Saʿīd bin Jubayr, who said:

I asked ibn ʿAbbās: What is [the reward] for the one who fasts the Month of Ramadhān, while knowing it’s rights?
He said: Ready yourself, oh bin Jubayr, so that I can narrate to you with what your ears have never heard before, nor has your heart come across. Free yourself for what you have asked me about, for what you desire is the knowledge of the first and the last.
Saʿīd bin Jubayr said: I left from him, and readied myself for him for the next day. So I went out early to him at the time of fajr, whereupon I prayed fajr and mentioned the narration to him. He turned his face to me and said: Listen to me and what I have to say. I heard the Messenger of Allāh صلى الله عليه وآله say: If you knew what [reward] is for you in the Month of Ramadhān, you would have increased your remembrance and gratitude towards Allāh. If it is the first night, Allāh, Mighty and Majestic, forgives for my nation of of it’s sins; be it [sins committed] secretly or in open. He will raise you one million degrees, and will build for you fifty cities [in Paradise].
On the second day, Allāh, Mighty and Majestic, writes for you for every step that you take on that day – the worship of one year, with the reward of a prophet, and writes for you the fasting of one year.
On the third day, Allāh, Mighty and Majestic, gives you – for every hair on your body – a dome in al-Firdous made from a white pearl. Within its highest one there is twelve thousand houses from light; and its lowest has in it twelve thousand houses. Within each house is one thousand beds. Upon each bed is a ḥawrā’. Everyday, one thousand kings enter upon you, and with each king is a present.
On the fourth day, Allāh, Mighty and Majestic, gives you seventy thousand castles in the everlasting Paradise. Within each castle is seventy thousand houses. Within each house is fifty thousand beds. Upon each bed is a ḥawrā’. In front of each ḥawrā’ is one thousand is a maidservant. The veil of just one of them is greater than this worldly life and what is in it.
On the fifth day, Allāh gives you in the […]

Al-‘Āmāli, Al-Shaykh al-Ṣadūq, The Twelfth Assembly – Ḥadīth #1

It was narrated to us by al-Shaykh, al-Faqih al-Ṣadūq (Abū Jaʿfar Moḥammed bin ʿAlī bin al-Ḥussain bin Mūsa bin Bābawayh al-Qummi رضي الله عنه), who said – it was narrated to us by Moḥammed bin al-Ḥassan bin Aḥmed bin al-Walīd رضي الله عنه, who said – it was narrated to us by al-Ḥussain bin al-Ḥassan bin Ābān, from al-Ḥussain bin Saʿīd, from al-Ḥussain bin ʿIlwān, from ʿAmru bin Shimr, from Jābir:

From Abī Jaʿfar al-Bāqir عليه السلام, who said: When The Messenger of Allāh صلى الله عليه وآله would look upon the crescent of the Month of Ramadhān, he would turn his face towards the qibla, and would say: Oh Allāh, welcome it with security and safety upon us, peace and submission, good health and honour, abundant sustenance, removal of illness, recitation of the Qur’ān, and assistance with prayers and fasting. Oh Allāh, give the Month of Ramadhān in safety, and take it back with safety, and make us submissive in it until the Month of Ramadhān finishes and you have forgiven us.
He then turns his face towards the people and says: Oh gathering of Muslims, if the crescent of the Month of Ramadhān emerges, the rebellious devils are chained, and the doors of the heavens, Paradise, and mercy are opened, and the doors of the fire is closed. The supplications are answered and Allāh, Mighty and Majestic, emancipates from the chains from the fire at every break of the fast. A caller will call out each night: ‘Is there any one who requests [his needs]? Is there one who seeks forgiveness? Oh Allāh give reward to all of those who give in charity, and allow those who give in charity lose nothing’; until the crescent of Shawwāl emerges, whereupon the believers are called to: ‘Come take your rewards, for it is the day of [obtaining] rewards.’
Abū Jaʿfar عليه السلام then said: I swear, by the one in whose hands is my life, those rewards are not dinānīr and dirāhim.1 1. Dinānīr and dirāhim: the plural of the common currency used.
