And also on this day, it was narrated to us by al-Shaykh, al-Faqih al-Ṣadūq (Abū Jaʿfar Moḥammed bin ʿAlī bin al-Ḥussain bin Mūsa bin Bābawayh al-Qummi رحمة الله), who said – it was narrated to us by my father رحمة الله, who said – it was narrated to us by ʿAlī bin Ibrāhīm bin Hāshim, who said – it was narrated to us by Jaʿfar bin Salamah, who said – it was narrated to us by Ibrāhīm bin Moḥammed al-Thaqafi, who said – it was narrated to us by ʿUbayd Allāh bin Mūsa al-ʿAbbasi, who said – it was narrated to us by Muhalhil al-ʿAbdi, who said – it was narrated to us by Kadīra bin Ṣāliḥ al-Hijri, from Abī Dhar Jundub bin Janāda رضي الله عنه, who said:
I heard the Messenger of Allāh صلى الله عليه وآله say to ʿAlī عليه السلام three statements. Had just one of them been for me it would be more beloved to me than this world and what is in it. I heard him say: ‘Oh Allāh, help him and help through him. Oh Allāh, give victory to him and gain victory through him. For he is Your servant and brother of Your Messenger.’
Then Abū Dhar رحمه الله said: I testify to ʿAlī in allegiance, and his brotherhood, and his successorship.
Kadīra bin Ṣāliḥ said: Salmān al-Fārsi would similarly testify to this, as would al-Miqdād and ʿAmmār, and Jābir bin ʿAbd Allāh al-Anṣāri, and Abū al-Haytham bin al-Tayhān, and Khuzaymah bin Thābit dhu al-Shahādatayn,1 and Abū Ayūb – the companion within the dwelling of the Messenger of Allāh صلى الله عليه وآله – and Hāshim bin ʿUtba al-Marqāl. All of them are from the elite companions of the Messenger of Allāh صلى الله عليه وآله.
وصلى الله على سيدنا محمد وآله الطاهرين
1. Khuzaymah bin Thābit was known as dhu al-Shahādatayn (the one of the two testimonies) due to an incident found in an authentic narration in al-Kāfi (Volume 7, in the Chapter of testimonies) where the Prophet صلى الله عليه وآله declared the testimony (shahāda) of Khuzaymah to be worthy of two men. Al-Barqi, in his book of Rijāl, elaborates how he was of those who rejected the authority of the first recognized caliph, Abū Bakr, in a narration where Khuzaymah says to him: ‘Oh Abū Bakr, do you not have knowledge of how the Messenger of Allāh صلى الله عليه وآله accepted my testimony alone (as opposed to requiring two people)?’ [Abu Bakr] replied: ‘Yes’. He said: Then indeed I bear witness in what I heard from him, where he said: “Your Imām after me is ʿAlī عليه السلام because he is the most sincere to my nation and the most knowledgeable from them.”‘
